Dustin Hinde is a ski coach for the 1st and 2nd grade Gravity Program. He was born in Salt Lake City and moved to Telluride when he was 9 years old. Dustin first skied when he was 5 years old, and at the age of 12 he transitioned to snowboarding. At that stage of Dustin’s life, snowboarding resonated with him more than skiing. He started off spending a lot of time in the park, then big mountain and eventually spent his time snowboarding in the slackcountry, sidecountry, and backcountry. Dustin had a couple years of dabbling in the thigh burn of telemark skiing in that mix. In 2008, he returned to alpine skiing.
Currently, Dustin loves sharing his time on the mountain – skiing, snowboarding and backcountry splitboarding. Then last year, Dustin coached a great group of 1st grade rippers, including his own son Thatcher. He’s very grateful to have this opportunity to explore this amazing mountain, while fine tuning kids’ skills and having a blast doing so.

Jackson is thrilled for his first season as a ski coach! He fell in love with skiing when he moved to Telluride and is excited to share that enthusiasm with the younger generation. When Jackson is not on the mountain, he works for the Telluride’s Wilkinson Public Library as the Teen Librarian. You also can find me at home playing banjo.
Jadin grew up in Telluride and has been a part of the TSSC program since third grade. She competed on the Freeride Big Mountain Team throughout high school and is now coming back from Dartmouth to work as a coach during her winter break. Jadin is super excited to have this full-circle experience and get to work with young athletes similar to herself all those years ago.
From Ruidoso, NM, James started competing USSA Alpine when he was 12 years old. He switched to USSA Freestyle Moguls and Aerials at 16. Unfortunately a serious knee injury ended his career when he was 18 while wake boarding. After rehabilitation, James immediately switched to coaching USSA freestyle. He has coached at Durango Mountain Resort “Purgatory” while attending Fort Lewis College and was the head Park and Pipe coach. After graduation James accepted a job at TSSC in 2006/2007 and was the assistant coach for the Park. He has coached Hoot Brown, Hanna Smith, Lane Smith, Cody Ward and Gus Kenworthy. Afterwards, James spent the next couple years at Woodward at Copper Mountain under Feebe Mills and continued coaching the competition team which included Gus Kenworthy. James coached competitive teams in Mammoth Mountain Unbound for 2 seasons, Mt. Hood Meadows Park Team for a season and Team Monarch’s IFSA teams with Tiania Adams for last 3 seasons. His passion is to mentor junior athletes with focus on fun and safe progression, on the mountain and in the park! James recently received certification as PSIA Children’s Specialist Level 1 and PSIA level 1 instructor to add to his 22 years of professional freestyle coaching experience which includes USSA, USASA, and IFSA.

This ski season is Vivi’s 9th year coaching for Gravity, TSSC. She loves it because the young athletes are so enthusiastic and ready to learn new skills. Vivi works from the season’s start with her team by establishing each child’s dream goal, what they want to learn in skiing this season, and what skills they want to master and much more!
