This is a Junior Development Series (13 yrs and younger) and it is the introductory level for freestyle skiers in the Rocky Mountain Division. These are great events for junior competitors—Devo has one jump and no speed points. RQS has two jumps and no speed points. Ski areas such as Purgatory, and Winter Park, among others, will host these events.

Our Freestyle Program is designed for athletes looking to compete. Events are tailored more towards experienced competitors traveling statewide and eventually leading to divisional championships. In contrast to RQS/ DEVO events, jumps are bigger and there is more emphasis on speed at these competitions. Planning ahead with the program director and head coach is crucial to the success of athletes choosing to compete in this arena.

This program is designed to teach fundamental aerial, terrain park and mogul skiing techniques. A typical day of Freestyle / Freeski training includes morning session skills development and drills. The afternoon session will focus on individualized guided skills. Travel and competition is encouraged but not required. The program meets Saturday’s and ski PE days. We will begin the 2nd weekend in December and end the second weekend in March.

Jeff has a life time of experience in mogul skiing and more than 20 years of experience as a Freestyle Program Director. Jeff has been the Freestyle, Freeski and MTB Program Director at the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club for 10 years. Before that, he was the Freestyle Ski Director at Gould Academy, in Bethel Maine. He is a former member of the United States Freestyle Development Team, two-time Jr World Championships Coach and has coached multiple athletes who have gone on to the U.S. Ski Team, World Cup and Olympic Games. In addition, Jeff is a U.S. Ski & Snowboard level 300 Aerial coach and also holds certification with American Sports Education Program (ASEP).
