Snowboard Coaches 2018-2019

Ryan Hoglund
Being born and raised in Denver, Colorado I began skiing at 5 years old. I made the switch from skiing to snowboarding in 1992, at the age of 15. Snowboarding seemed to make more sense to me and felt more natural as I was already active in other board sports, like skateboarding.  Throughout my teens I competed in slope style and boarder cross at Winterpark and Loveland Ski Area.
In 2005, I moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to attend Colorado Mountain College where I received a degree in Ski and Snowboard Business. After college I moved to Big Sky, Montana, and managed a snowboard shop, The Board Room, for 5 years. In 2011 I moved to Telluride where I managed The Alternative Edge. Working at Alternative Edge I met a lot of athletes that compete in Telluride and were/are a part of the Telluride Ski and Snowboard Club. Getting to know those athletes in our community made me want to be a part of the TSSC organization. I started coaching for Snowboard Club in 2016. It has been enjoyable coaching and watching the improvement, growth, and fun that the kids have on the mountain every day. Building off the kids energy is something I look forward to in another season with TSSC!

Lexie Torelli was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado but spent most of her time in Winter Park riding and learning with the likes of individuals that are in the pro/am snowboarding circuit today. She spent her summers at Mt.Hood going to Windell’s with her close friend Hagen Kearney. Lexie decided to graduate high school early at the age of 17 to live abroad, explore the world and to continue on the path of being a professional snow bum. After some time overseas she landed herself a spot with YES improvements in Whistler B.C. where she lived for 3 years training with the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors. In 2011 she left Canada with her Level 2 CASI cert and set out back to the states to find a reputable ski resort to begin working at. The first resort to return her email was Telluride Ski Resort and it was all downhill from there. On 11/11/2011 she moved into Big Billies in room 111 to start her first season teaching for Telski. She has since spent 8 years in town and has been travelling for private instruction sessions with clients met along the way. Lexie’s passion for the sport and proven dedication has made her an excellent choice to be one of our newest coaches on the Telluride Snowboard club team! Recently she spends her free time making music for her DJ side project and performing with her local Telluride Theatre troupe. You can most certainly catch her on the hill or on any stage around town with her troupe or solo playing tunes for an audience!

AJ Crocker grew up in the Sierra Mountains, where she was a part of her school’s snowboard race team. After competing in her first race at 14, AJ fell in love with the sport. She went on to compete internationally in slalom and giant slalom. She was lucky to train and travel with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Pro-Am team. She coached alpine snowboard at Mt. Hood Summer Ski Camps from 2003 to 2013. These days, AJ is a certified teacher with 10 years experience in a variety of educational settings. She holds a Masters degree in teaching and learning.
Hi I’m Jay Weaver.  I grew up south of Houston and moved to Breckenridge in 2008 to teach snowboarding.  There I earned my level 2 certification from the PSIA/AASI.  I moved to Telluride in 2011 where I taught for another 3 seasons.  I look forward to another great season riding with these little rippers.  I hope to help push and progress their riding.
My name is Molly Cooney I have been a member of TSSC since I was the age of six through 17 years old.  I have coached for 9 years, and was the snowboard Director for five of those years.  I’m a USASA Level 200 coach. I previously worked at High Cascade Snowboard Camp for five years as a counselor.  I was sponsored by Burton Snowboards and Roxy growing up.  I was a member of the USSA US Snowboard Team.  This year I have made the choice to step back, and help Ryan Hoglund and Justin Chandler behind the scenes.  I will be helping Ryan our new Snowboard Director with administrative work.  I will fill in as a guest coach as needed, and as always will be stoked to ride with the kids.  I’m thrilled for our new coaching team, and I know the parents and kids will love them!
